Bi’an — The Dragon of Judgement
Bi’an — The Dragon of Judgement
Description
One of the legendary Nine Sons of the Dragon, Bi’an (狴犴) is the guardian of justice, judgement, punishment, and unwavering truth.
In ancient China mythology, Bi’an was associated with courts, prisons, and imperial law. His image was traditionally carved upon prison gates and judicial halls, symbolising the power to see through lies, punish evil, and uphold order without fear or favour.
This full-wrap design depicts Bi’an surrounded by chains, smoke, burning incense, and the imposing atmosphere of an imperial court of judgement — rendered in rich red-and-gold dynastic aesthetics inspired by classical Chinese mythology and ceremonial architecture.
A symbol of:
- justice without weakness,
- truth without compromise,
- authority through discipline,
- and judgement that cannot be escaped.
Some dragons guard treasure. Bi’an guards the law itself.
