FLAMMA — The Unconquered Secutor
Flamma was one of the most celebrated gladiators of the Roman world — a Syrian warrior who fought 34 times, won 21 victories, and was granted freedom four separate times, yet chose to remain in the arena. His surviving epitaph turned him into a legend nearly two thousand years later.
Depicted here as a heavily armoured secutor, Flamma stands beneath the scarred walls of the arena surrounded by Roman graffiti, battle records, and tributes scratched into stone by admirers of the games. His iconic helmet, designed to counter the retiarius’ trident and net, became one of the most recognisable symbols of gladiatorial combat.
A tribute to one of history’s most relentless warriors — forged in blood and remembered in stone.
