Flora MacDonald – The Jacobite Heroine

Description:

Flora MacDonald (1722–1790) earned her place in Scottish history through an act of extraordinary courage. Following the Jacobite defeat at Culloden in 1746, she helped Bonnie Prince Charlie evade capture by disguising him as an Irish maid and arranging his escape from Benbecula to the Isle of Skye.

Though imprisoned for her actions, Flora became a symbol of loyalty, honour, and Highland resilience. Her story has been celebrated in song, poetry, and legend for generations.

A daughter of the mighty Clan MacDonald, her legacy remains woven into the history of the Highlands and Islands.
